PIZZA DOUGH!!! UNO, DUE, TRE!

SAUSAGE BREAD

I love having pizza dough in my freezer at all times, whether I make home made, or I buy it from my local Italian grocery, which by the way makes excellent dough! All you have to do is defrost it on your counter, and let it get to room temperature and your good to go!
This recipe of sausage bread I remember way back when I was a kid, I remember my Mom making this and we would eat it slice by slice. It’s sort of like a stromboli, but we always called it sausage bread. I like using hot Italian sausage because, between the dough and the cheese, it sort of cancels out some of the heat, and leaves a lot of flavor. There are many variations but mine is simply hot sausage, Fontina cheese, and lots of grated cheese like Romano.

Roll dough out and layer all ingredients on top (pre cook sausage) roll up jelly roll style.
Make 3 slits on top, brush with olive oil and sprinkled cheese. Bake at 375 degreesF till golden about 1/2 hour.

WHITE PIZZA

Traditional pizza is always a given, but sometimes we crave this white pizza, no sauce thank you! Again, I would imagine there are a ton of different variations, but mine was made with a blending of roasted garlic, Ricotta cheese, and a grated combo of Asiago, Fontina, Provolone, and Parmesan cheese’s. Make it like you would a regular pizza. It’s out of the norm, but quite delicious!!

CALZONE

Of course you can stuff these guys with anything you want, the skys the limit!! This one I made all veggie with a little mushroom, eggplant, and artichoke, add some sauce and mozzarella, fold it up and bake like a pizza. When you bite into it all those flavors come oozing out! Mmmmm

Buon Appetito!!

  1. ingredients for cica 4 pizzas:
â– 800 grams of flour (better the manitoba)
    â– 400 milliliters of water
â– 32 grams of yeast (preferred) or an average sachet and of the baking powder that is found in north America
    â– 12 grams of salt
â– honey or sugar 1 teaspoon
â– 24 grams of olive oil
    â– tomato sauce and mozzarella.

    Preparation:
to make to unit the yeast in the water, to put the flour in a bowl and to add salt.
To stir with the hands wild and salt.IT REMEMBERS SALT KILLS THE YEAST.To pour the water with the yeast in the flour and to begin to stir until to obtain a soft ball, to add the oil and to continue to paste. To leave to rest in the bowl covered from a slightly humid rag for approximately 2 hours.

Now you can spread the peak in the baking pans.
There are two ways in order to make it with the rolling pin for having a thin and crispy peak.

IF USED THE ROLLING PIN YOU PUT THE FLOUR IS OVER THAT UNDER THE PIZZA OTHERWISE IT IS STICK.
Or you spread it to nude hands until to fill up completely the baking pan so the pizza will be softer and soft.

Now sprayed water on the pizza you cover like before and left for others 20 minutes.

You put the tomato sauce on the pizza, not too much but in order only cover the dough.

I PUT SOME SALT AND SOME OIL IN THE SAUCE.

Now you can cut the mozzarella and put it over the pizza.

To ignite the oven to 180 centigrade degrees.

You put the pizza in the oven and to cook for 15 minutes.

    SIMPLE, GOOD, EATEN!

  2. Wow – loving the idea of that sausage bread!!

I just found your blog – sadly too late for the festa – will keep checking back in case there is another one! 😀

  3. In New York we call these delicious things Sausage Roll and there are always some made at every pizzeria. The unfortunate part is that they are often mass-made in the morning and left to sit all sad looking all day. I’m sure it’s so much better when freshly made! This looks really nice. -amy @ http://www.weareneverfull.com

  4. My husband’s all time favorite dish that his mom makes is sausage bread! Since I’ve already made too many Easter pies this year, I had to promise him I’d make it next year. I had better not let him anywhere near your site. 😉 Wow, it looks fabulous!

    Jenn, Hi, Thanks!!

Anonymous, Thanks for visiting, I used my own recipe for sauce, it is made with meat, but I pull it out, and just use the sauce with all the flavor.Tucci’s recipe does the same thing, cause you’re adding the meatballs and salami as ingredients. I would love to see your finished product, email me a picture if you can. You’re going to love it! Hope you have a lot of people coming for dinner, as it feeds many!!Thanks for your comments!

  8. Oh my, this looks wonderful! I found your site awhile ago while looking up Timpano. Your pictures have inspired me. I got my Timpano basin the other day. I am very excited! Do you use the Tucci Ragu recipe or your own? The pictures didn’t appear to have meat in the sauce. Can’t wait to try it.

    I leave here sooooo hungry!

  20. That bread looks just incredible!! I can practically taste it. Of course the rest of the post is just like carbohydrate heaven (which is a good thing!).

  21. Thank you for commenting on my blog so that I could discover your yummy blog. Everything looks so delicious! I’ll visit often 🙂

  22. I am so glad there is another foodie out there who buys dough. I would like to place an order for all three….

  23. Good thing I am headed to my second job at the pizerria. You are making me very hungry even though I just ate the appetizer I made for the Festa Italiana:D We just added calzones to the menu and they are a huge hit!!!!!

  24. I like the white pizza, and all those different cheeses with garlic. Yum.

  25. I love that sausage roll idea. Now I have some more uses for the frozen dough in my freezer.I love it when you do these series!

  26. Again, a perfect meal for my carbo-loading son. I love your site! You inspire me to get out of my Tuesday Meatloaf routine (although, I’ve never made meatloaf, but you know what I mean). Ooh. I’m going to go to my Italian grocer & pick-up the dough, but not tell the hubby…. It may just be my family, but they seem to enjoy it better if they think I labored for hours. I also lie about my weight so this isn’t a big deal for me. 😉

    Grazie mille, Marie!

  27. Bravissima! The pizze look great! My mom makes her sausage bread the same way, but she also adds sauteed swiss chard to it. The possibilities are endless!

  28. Marie, the sausage roll is my fave of the three but I would still eat all of them!

  29. All three of those pizza dough dishes look good! The sausage bread with sausage sounds really tasty.

  30. This is so tempting I just may put the soup I made today in the fridge and order some take out pizza! Calzone, please 😉

Whenever my grandmother made pizza, she would always make a “red” and a “white”. Her white one only had good olive oil, salt and pepper. I still don’t understand why this tasted so damn good, but it did.
